2008 BESTMAZE
The one thing we can not suggest enough is come in Sept when weather is perfect - besides we give away a lot of vacation door prizes then; see the vacation giveaway page. Never been to Bestmaze? Be sure to read colored box's below
This year’s maze has a theme of "PURE MICHIGAN" desinged with input from Travel Michigan centering around scenes known by all of this state. We have several signed options that direct you "to" or "bypassing around" subsections of maze -decide as you go how long a tour you want; signed optional exits occur every 15 minutes as well.
Those with small children can bypass the harder sections of the maze and still see all the Michigan icons -just take the short cut signs. Then enjoy cider and donuts as you wait for the others to finish.
Those who like a challenge can simply skip the short cut signs and do the whole maze. Bestmaze is your place!!!
We also have four towers overlooking the whole maze if you need help.
One flashlight or glow necklace mandatory for maze after dark. If a group of 6 will split into 2 groups have 2 flashlights. NO MILLION CANDLE POWER OR SIMILAR ALLOWED. You need a flashlight or glow necklace for reading the "password" and "Do not enter signs". We sell new flashlights (2 AA) for $3. We also sell glow necklaces for $1...as cheap as we can for your benefit. The glow necklaces give off enough light when you hold it against a sign. Cigarette lighters not allowed for sign reading.
. We have a concession stand and restroom on site. We will have Mackinaw Fudge, donuts, cider, water, and well known soft drinks.
Why the name - Bestmaze? Our customers told us to change our name to Bestmaze for some good reasons. Several of our customers have commented on other mazes and how they spent more time looking for people in their group than enjoying the maze. Our trails are designed to keep your group all going in the same direction where you will be out of each others sight for a few minutes (several times)- not the whole night. Read below if you have never been to Bestmaze
At Bestmaze we strive to make the maze pattern function for those who want a short maze as well as those who want to add the optional sections for a long maze adventure. Some mazes do not. We changed our name from Maze-n-market to Bestmaze at the suggestion of people who had been to other mazes. We hear time and time again how our maze is the best from “maze groupies” who have visited several mazes. A major difference with Bestmaze and other mazes is that we plan our original maze designs ourselves every year and lay it out to be a great maze- NOT only a great looking big picture like other mazes. Several mazes are cut by hired companies that travel the country making the maze into "one big fancy picture" that can only be enjoyed from the air (or at least look like a good maze from a picture in advertising). When they concentrate on making one giant picture the maze flow suffers. These custom cut maze trails must conform to the big picture - not freely designed for to make an outstanding maze experience. Because of this many do not flow as good as ours. They simply send you back and forth along long boring trails whose only purpose is to make a picture -not a quality maze. We make several smaller pictures and stick them into a much better designed maze instead. You will see the whole bison (buffalo) as you enter it. You will recognize the teepee's and the steam locomotive when you enter it
CAUTION - there are some so called corn mazes around that merely knock corn stalks down with a tractor to make the paths - and you end up tripping on them the whole time - we hand rake all our trails smooth after removing the corn.

Church Groups: Some have been concerned about our "Trail of Terror" other years and gone to other mazes. I know this has been a concern to many. My own church frowned very heavily on playing cards, proms and so on when I was in youth groups myself. So I am well aware of your concerns. Some youth leaders have gone through our Trail of Terror...checking it out...and then brought their group later to our maze and many even to our Trail of Terror. Our trail is actually heavily overseen by a local ministerial candidate with the Free Methodist Church.. Our Trail of Terror is done more along the lines of Sci-fi monsters and famous villains. There are no demons or devils as part of our production. Buzz Barr the youth leader from Greater Lansing First Assembly has been here before with his highschool/college group and is scheduled again in 2008...they come for the Trail of Terror as much as the maze! The maze & Trail of Terror are on separate sides of the field and your youth will not come into contact with events on Trail of Terror by doing the maze. They may however catch a glimpse of 2 of our theme park quality monsters...really "ugly" 17' tall creatures.
